June Curtailments

Site Curtailments

To our valued clients:

Summer has arrived, and with it, we’ve been seeing significant spikes in temperatures. When heat waves hit, they create an extra load on power grids, leading to site curtailments that are both more frequent and longer in duration than those we typically experience at other times of the year.

These curtailments are not indicative of any systemic issues with our facilities. In fact, Simple Mining is not alone — other hosting companies, particularly those operating in places like Texas and other “sun belt” states, often experience even longer and more frequent curtailments. Despite this, we continue to deliver uptimes that exceed industry standards across all of our hosting locations.

Further evidence that this situation is affecting the entire mining ecosystem can be seen in the recent decline in global hashrate, which has dropped by roughly 30% over the past two weeks. As documented here (opens in a new tab), this is a recurring pattern that tends to emerge each year. From the article:

"Significant hashrate and difficulty corrections are not unusual during the northern hemisphere's summer. Elevated electricity prices, driven by higher air conditioning demand and strained power grids, often lead miners to temporarily shut off machines, especially older or less efficient ones. This seasonal pattern has been observed in several previous years."

At Simple Mining, we remain committed to providing a best-in-class Bitcoin mining experience. Our facilities are well maintained, and we are preparing to launch new locations to support the continued growth we’re seeing.
